Easy, No-Waste Kids Lunch Box Ideas

We’ve been slowly creeping in the direction of a more green and organic lifestyle over the past few years. I’ve been reusing containers and got the kids stainless steel water bottles a couple of years ago, but this year I decided to up my game. Here are some great choices if you are looking to pack a no-waste lunch for your children:

The Bentgo Kids Print Leak-Proof Lunchbox with 5 compartments is a good way to just buy one item and be totally no waste! Plastic is not my favorite, but this one is BPA free. And most likely, your child will not be heating his/her lunchbox, so the chemicals are less likely to leach onto the food. Plus it’s dishwasher safe which is a MUST in our house!

If your kids already have a lunchbox that they love, you can buy the Bentgo Kids Tray on its own to put all their lunch components in. It’s only $10 bucks and is also BPA free.

The Thermos 12 oz Funtainers are the water bottles that we’ve been using for the past 3 years. They are a bit pricey up front, but they last a long time. Except I washed one of them on the bottom rack of the dishwasher, so there’s no longer an image on it! They are stainless steel which is safer than plastic and obviously doesn’t break like glass. The straw inside is silicone.

If you are a strictly no plastic family, the LunchBots Medium Trio Container is a good alternative. Every part is stainless steel, so all the food stays safe! It’s dishwasher safe as well.

Home & Harvest Food Containers are also stainless steel with silicone lids, so they are a good safe choice as well if you don’t want a bento box. They can be used outside of kids’ lunches as well!

If you are packing for a teenager (or they are packing themselves!), the Bento Fresh Versatile Lunch Box is a good option. You can arrange the compartments to suit the size of your lunch items. It comes in a variety of colors as well.

If you are called upon to make cupcakes for the class this year, AmazonBasics Reusable, Silicone Baking Cups are a no waste choice. To be honest, I haven’t crossed over to this side yet and still use the paper liners because they are so much easier!! Please don’t hate me! I’m trying to work myself up to this level.
